Welcome to Briscoe County!
Briscoe is mostly in the Panhandle and southeast of Amarillo. It was created in 1876 and later organized in 1892. It's named for Andrew Briscoe (1810–1849), a soldier during the Texas Revolution who also served as a delegate to the Texas Convention of 1836 and fought at San Jacinto. The county seat is Silverton. We are bordered on the north by Armstrong County, on the east by Hall, to the west is Swisher and south is Floyd County. We need volunteers! If you have information that can be posted to this site or if you would like to learn to transcribe records, please drop me a note. We accept any historical or genealogical information pertaining to Briscoe County. TXGenWeb is now accepting volunteers for managing county websites. |
